Partnership example: Delivering tailor-made capacity building to VSO
VSO-ICS is a youth volunteering programme that brings young people from different countries together to fight poverty. We developed tailor-made capacity building for ICS alumni participants to be further inspired to act as drivers of change and confident leaders in their own communities and countries.
As a result of the training the ICS alumni gained:
- An increased knowledge and understanding of campaigning and advocacy practices that can be used to influence change in local communities both by themselves as individuals and by working with others.
- Insights about the relationship between social justice and human rights and the confidence to implement rights based approaches as agents of social change.
- Increased knowledge and skills in leadership techniques to have the means and self-assurance to motivate others, negotiate for change and influence attitudes and behaviour in the community.
"Following the GP trainings, VSO is seeing evidence of impact, including young people raising awareness of human rights on radio in Nepal, youth-led community sanitation activities in Bangladesh and replication of different training elements."
